Interactive water fountains have become extremely popular over the past several years, with new installations on the rise across the country. They are being built in a variety of settings including amusement parks, malls, city parks, and adjacent to swimming pools. These fountains typically consist of dancing water jets, jumping jets or other such features located on a sloped pad with no aboveground pool of water. Water is usually stored in an underground reservoir or surge chamber from which it is drawn and sprayed into the air. After the water hits the ground, it flows back to the reservoir through drains in the floor. The drains are large enough to prevent the pooling of water. The public is encouraged to play and interact with these water features.
